It's My 1st Time Now What!?

You’ve finally decided to step into the world of waxing! Here are a few tips of what to do before and after that will help make your wax experience the best ever!

SCHEUDLE WISELY

Schedule your wax 3-4 days before a big event to give your skin time to be less sensitive. If you’re new to waxing and have a special event (like your wedding, photo-shoot, vacation) we recommend waxing 2-3 times before.

PRE-WAX

Clean Skin, Free of Products - Keep your skin clean and free of lotions, moisturizers, and makeup. The cleaner your face or body, the better your wax esthetician will be able to cleanly remove the hair.

When receiving intimate services, it's always best to freshen up in the ladies' room first, don't be afraid to ask for one of our kitty wipes.

Please let your specialist know if you're taking any medication!

DURING YOUR WAX

Relax, and just breathe, you are in good hands. Talking with your esthetician throughout your service will put you at ease. Position yourself correctly to have a great experience and comfort. Ask all the questions you need answers to during your service to reassure the best experience by our licensed estheticians.

Your first bikini wax will remove the majority of hair that’s grown above the skin it may not be super smooth if you’ve shaved in the past. Hair grows in cycles and at different lengths especially if you have been shaving for a long time. Because they grow in different cycles, hairs that were growing below the skin’s surface during your first wax will be removed during your next few waxes. By the fifth wax, all hairs should be growing in the same cycle which means longer lasting results for you.

AFTER-CARE

Just keep in mind that you want to avoid exfoliating 24-48 hours prior to waxing. In order to reveal soft, gorgeous skin, we recommend applying a thin layer to clean, dry skin with a circular motion until the exfoliation begins to activate.

You also want to make sure you keep the area hydrated and apply a daily serum to prevent breakouts, bumps and ingrown in the waxed area. Wash your skin every morning and every night and never go to bed with makeup on. This will help keep your skin healthy and make regular waxing easier.

Consistency is key by re-booking your next appointment to stay on track you can't expect results if you can't be consistent it doesn't work like that. Also, you need to stick to a product line to experience results as well to determine if a product is working for you before trying something new. Once you start going in-between products and switching if you break out or your skin becomes irritated it's hard to tell which product may have caused that for you.

REGROWTH

Because hair grows in different cycles, sometimes the very first wax may cause some stubble after a couple of days. It is not the waxed hair already growing, it is another cycle that was still in the skin during waxing. While this is usually only a small amount of hair, for smoother results, wax twice before an event or vacation. The second hair cycle is more even and there will be less regrowth.

REBOOKING

Overtime your hair will become noticeably softer, finer, and over time sparser. Book your next wax 4-6 weeks after your appointment for best results. And don’t forget to exfoliate! You can come in sooner, but due to hair cycles you may be left with unwanted stubble if you come earlier than usual.

Things to Avoid after waxing:

  • Makeup (if face is waxed).
  • Avoid deodorant with aluminum hold off on applying deodorant for 24hours.
  • Avoid harsh sunlight, sunbathing, and tanning beds. Wearing sunscreen is highly recommended.
  •  Do not use any exfoliating products, especially ones containing acids, as they may further irritate your skin.
  • Showers instead of bathing. Use only lukewarm water (not hot).
  • No saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools or other heated sources.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours.
  • To avoid ingrown hairs, don’t wear tight clothes for the next couple of days.
  • Resist touching freshly waxed skin, especially on the face, as this may cause irritation and breakouts.
  • Sexual activity should be avoided for at least 24 hours.
  • To avoid ingrown hair, exfoliate waxed area (starting after 48 hours since treatment) twice-three times a week to get rid of dead skin layer, so your hair can grow above skin surface.

Also applying ingrown hair solution like PFB vanish or Deck Scrub will help maintain smooth skin AND PREVENT INGROWNS.
